EVOCA vs Mentimeter: polls on the slide, or questions from the room?
Search Console keeps sending us mentimeter alternative, mentimeter free alternative, and mentimeter vs competitors. Here is the honest split, including the parts Mentimeter wins.
Last verified: October 2026
Mentimeter is what you open when the slide itself is the interaction. A poll, a quiz, a word cloud, a bar that fills in while you talk. We don't do those. EVOCA does not include live polls.
We built EVOCA for the other job: a conference talk where the room reacts, upvotes questions, and the speaker sees the top ones beside the slides. There's a wall you can project, and a QR so the next session doesn't start with an app install. If you need the poll, stay on Mentimeter. The wider list of tools is 5 Mentimeter alternatives.

Where Mentimeter wins
Polls, quizzes, and word clouds. That's the product. The free plan includes almost all of those question types, and their help center says you can put as many question slides as you want in one presentation (there's a 200-slide performance cap). The plans table lists 23 slide types on Free and unlimited types on paid plans. Quick Form slides are Pro.
Paid plans also do the presenter jobs we don't: import an existing deck on Basic and up, export results, and on Pro a phone remote (Mentimote), Q&A moderation, custom themes, and co-editing. Quiz slides on a paid plan cap at 2,000 participants. Other slide types don't, according to their help center article from 5 August 2026. If your keynote is a sequence of visual prompts, this is the tool.
Where EVOCA wins
A multi-talk conference. Each talk has its own upvoted Q&A, so the 11:00 room doesn't answer questions from next door. Emoji reactions show on the slides and on a projected live wall. The speaker view keeps the top unanswered questions beside the deck. When the session ends, people leave a star rating and a comment. None of that is a poll.
The free tier is the other practical win. 100attendees per event, not 50 participants shared across a month. One admin, and one conference, on the free organizer plan. Mentimeter's 50 is a monthly counter: they won't kick people out of the presentation that crosses it, you get about 8 hours to finish that one, and then you wait for the reset or you upgrade. For a single meetup under 100 people, ours simply covers the room.
Joining is a browser on both sides, so don't let anyone tell you Mentimeter makes the audience install an app. They type a code at menti.com. We use a QR or a link into that specific talk. Same "nothing to install," different hallway moment.
Pricing
Our prices, from the plan catalog: free up to 100 attendees and 1 admin. One-time Event is €49 for 7 days, unlimited attendees, unlimited talks, 1 admin. Growth is €29/month, with call for papers and 3 admins. Scale is €89/month billed yearly. Series is €19.99/month, for one recurring lineup. Speaker Pro is €5/month billed yearly.
Mentimeter, checked on 21 October 2026. Free is $0, with 50 participants per month. Basic was $11.99 per presenter per month, billed yearly, excluding tax, with unlimited participants, slide import, and exports. Pro was $24.99 per presenter per month, billed yearly. Basic can also be billed monthly. The yearly view didn't show that monthly amount, so check it on mentimeter.com/plans before you compare a single month. Enterprise is a quote, and it's where SSO lives.
For one conference they sell a 30-day package, not a 7-day one. Small Conference was $350 and Large Conference was $750, excluding tax, on mentimeter.com/plans/conference. Unlimited participants, and the slide types we don't have. Their help center says Small is up to 4 presenters and Large up to 20, each with their own login. If four speakers each need a poll deck for a month, that package is the honest Mentimeter buy. If the room needs questions and reactions for a weekend, and nobody needs a word cloud, €49 is the smaller invoice, with no attendee cap and no cap on talks.
A solo speaker who wants polls every week should buy Mentimeter Basic, not us. Speaker Pro at €5/month is the remote, the reactions, and the feedback screen. It is not a polling tool.
The verdict
Pick Mentimeter when the presentation is a series of polls, quizzes, or word clouds. Pick EVOCA when the conference is a schedule of talks that should take questions and reactions from a phone, then keep a rating after the speaker steps off. Plenty of events want both, and that's fine. Run the interactive keynote in Mentimeter and the track Q&A in EVOCA. The live demo is the fastest way to see which job you actually have.
